The Gwinnett Police Department now offers online crime mapping. Interactive, online neighborhood crime mapping at CrimeMapping.com allows Gwinnett residents to see where and when various criminal activities have been reported near their neighborhood or street address.

Combining Google maps with Gwinnett Police crime reports, the system is updated frequently so the public can get timely, accurate information.

“Information leads to awareness,” said Gwinnett County Police Chief Charles Walters. “This new system improves our community policing effort and helps residents be on the lookout and stay aware of nearby criminal activity so they can take extra precautions if needed.”

The default map needs to be massaged a bit in order to get detailed information for your particular neighborhood, but the process is fairly intuitive and worth the effort to retrieve the statistics.

CrimeMapping.com also provides the ability to signup for crime alerts to be delivered to your email address following user submitted criteria. Click here to visit the subscription page.
