Gwinnett BoC Votes Down Tax Increase…

On Tuesday, June 2, 2009 the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted down their own proposed property tax increase.
The hour long public hearing that was held prior to the vote was the most verbose and heated of the three with an estimated 450 citizens in attendance.

Commissioner Lasseter was quoted as saying, “We appreciate hearing what you want to tell us, but let’s realize we are all in this together, and it’s only as a team in Gwinnett County we will make it through this economic downturn.”
Were “we” together when “we” decided to build a $60 million stadium? Nope, “we” had no say in the matter.
$60 million would go a long way in correcting this issue… Nope, sorry, that’s incorrect,… $60 million would have gone a long way in PREVENTING this issue…
