Stone Mountain Park Purchases Land

Share this post by email - 1 Comment - View And/Or Add A Comment »

Curtis Branscome, C.E.O. of the Stone Mountain Memorial Association (SMMA) stated that in a joint meeting of the Finance and Development Committees on February 15,2010 that the capital budget and cash flow forecast were reviewed and this review clearly demonstrated that purchasing this 52 acres of property at 6826 James B. Rivers Memorial Drive will still leave SMMA with at least $5 million or more in cash after the purchase. The committees also reviewed the MAI appraisal for the property which is in excess of the purchase price for the property. The committees agreed that SMMA should proceed with the purchase of the property and a resolution authorizing the purchase has been prepared. Mr. Branscome read the purchase option for the record. The motion and the resolution was approved unanimously.

Snellvillians Get Their Sunday Alcohol Vote

Share this post by email - No Comments - Add A Comment »

After years of much-ado and goings-on, the citizens of Snellville will finally get to vote on Sunday liquor sales. Last night the Snellville City Council agreed to a referendum vote on July 20th.

It’s technically not over as arguments about the laws that govern who - citizens or local governments - are allowed to decide Sunday alcohol sales are still before a judge. Those involved believe that the case will ultimately wind up before the state Supreme Court.

Gwinnett Does Something Right

You’ve got to give props when they’re due… It seems that Gwinnett finally got something right after a loooong dry spell.

Gwinnett County currently draws approximately 75 million gallons of water from Lake Lanier each day. Yesterday it began returning approximately 40 million gallons a day of clean, treated wastewater from 10 miles away at its Wayne Hill reclamation plant in Buford.
